Hello world. World that I touch, graze, annoy, pass by with an eye-following, but not a neck-turning glance. Hello! Via screens of varying shapes and sizes, you’ve welcomed– okay, accepted, my words and rambling thoughts along the coast, across the Pacific, and back again. At risk of adding more carrots to this clustered cauldron of gratitude soup, hung over an open fire each and every holiday season, I want to say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read this blog. Thank you.
Thank you to my subscribers who have absolutely slammed that subscribe button. Thank you to the ghost readers that stumble upon this page and give it the light of day. Thank you to my family. Thank you to my friends. You’ve all turned this silly and directionless idea into something more. What exactly “more” is, I don’t know just yet. But I’m confident that we, collectively, may eventually find out.
I feel a bit ridiculous sending out a message like this because it implies a magnitude these vignettes that I never really intended (and is probably not even there). Regardless, I’m writing to say that I’m taking a break from BambooBlister for the holidays. Some of you may have noticed, but for the past month or so, my posts have trickled to a putter, similar to the last pulse of a memorable swell. Like many of you, and like that horrible current that rips through the lineup at Ocean Beach, I’ve been pulled in so many directions as of late. And it’s taken great effort to even stay in place.
Instead of chasing down mediocre waves with my limited energy, I’m going to be patient. I’m going to rest, breathe, float, recover, and wait for that new swell to arrive. Thank you for being patient with me too. Bumps of 2021 are finally visible on the horizon, and I’m excited for what’s to come.
Happy holidays, see you on January 7th.
